Case Study: Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust (RCHT) improves the approach to assess the need for completing legionella risk assessments.

The two-year risk assessment review frequency, outlined by the HSE, was removed from guidance in 2013 which meant the process for reviewing legionella risk assessments needed to be re-established.

If you're a building owner or premises manager, according to UK legislation you're responsible for managing risks within your buildings - including water systems. 

HSE have removed the two year frequency for risk assessments, they now suggest a set of criteria against which risk assessments can be reviewed.

Risks of not completing a Legionella Risk Assessment at the right time

It is a legal requirement to have a risk assessment for water systems where there is a duty of care. If there is no risk assessment in place, the right time is now!

Once a Legionella risk assessment is in place, the revised ACoP L8 (2013) tells us to review it “regularly” in case any changes have occurred, or there is a reason to suspect the risk assessment is no longer valid.
